Exceptional kids, exceptional school year!

Every year, I create back to school signs for schools across Moore County and surrounding areas. Last year, I began including illustrated school kids in the designs. This year, I’m expanding that even more by including children with disabilities.

My background is in special education, and I know how important it is for kids to see themselves represented. Kids with disabilities deserve to see characters that look like them. Kids of different skin tones, hair colors, and abilities all deserve that same moment of recognition. Feeling seen matters.

The first child with a disability I’m including in this year’s school signs is a little boy with a cochlear implant. If you’re not familiar with them, they’re pretty amazing. This is just one small step, but it’s one that means a lot to me.
